swimfest
May 1, 2010

What do you get when you mix a few acres of fenced land, a swimming pool, a huge tow-behind grill stocked with bratwurst, burgers, dogs and sausages, 140 people and a grand total of 100 goldens?

PRICELESS!

MasterCard could only hope to catch half the fun we had on Saturday, May 1.

If you were there, you met me.  I was introducing myself to everyone.  I had no interest in getting wet but I was the foxy golden hearted little girl who sacrificed my gorgeous hairdo to be a part of the whole swimming experience.   I met or interviewed each of the dogs at Swimfest.

Everyone had rave reviews.  Humans said the food was great and plentiful.  Dogs loved the tennis balls.  Swimming dogs loved the pool.  I got close and personal so I could get the best interviews. You know that is how a great reporter does it!

Here are some of my exclusive interviews.

Rosie the Wanderer:  I saw that you were at the pool the whole time. Did you have good time?

Coco Channel: It was amazing. The water was just perfect and there were so many tennis balls that needed rescuing. Personally I think I rescued over 2000 tennis balls.

Rosie the Wander: That sounds like a little of an exaggeration about the tennis balls.

Coco Channel: No, they had humans that were there just to throw tennis balls. They also had Mike the lifeguard and some other humans to help out the “kids” that needed help.

Rosie:  So Bobbi this is like your 5th year attending Swimfest how did you think it went?

Bobbi: I cannot believe it but Swimfest gets bigger and better every year. I mainly work the sign in table and greet all the super dogs that attended, but this year I also got to get in a little me time in the pool. And did a mention the Golden Goodie bags everyone gets? I love toys, toys, toys and there were some fun toys in the bags. My sister Holli and I cannot wait until Swimfest 2011.

Rosie the Wander: So you are the President of AZGRC, do you have anything you would like to say?

Candy: We are grateful to our board member who hosts the event each year.  There aren’t enough words to express our thanks to the volunteers and supporters who work so hard to make Swimfest such a fun, successful event.  Because of their efforts and support we are able to provide an event that everyone loves. Hope to see ya’ll at Swimfest 2011!!
