Rocky's Story

Rocky is my name and having fun is my game. I am a “live in the moment” type of guy. When I was a puppy, my family did everything right. They got me my shots and then started to socialize me with other dogs.

Somehow I contracted Parvo. It was a bad case and my intestines were affected so I had to have surgery to remove part of them. I survived but it was a long stay at the hospital and I decided that this was not a fun place.

Parvo has no long term effects in fact once you have had it, you have lifetime immunity. I decided that I would live life to the fullest because you never know what tomorrow is going to bring your way.

So my life is going all great when two life altering things happened: one my parents had a human baby and two, I tore a ligament in my back leg. The only family I had known for 6 years decided to give me up.

On February 26, 2010 my life changed again. AZGRC came to my rescue and I was taken to a foster home. I really liked it there. Then my life changed again. I had surgery to repair the torn ligament. The surgery went well but I did not want to use the leg. I had to stay at the hospital again for an extended period of time.

When I finally went back to my foster home, I was so excited that I could not concentrate on following the rules of my rehabilitation. I had to return to the hospital so I could continue my rehabilitation. I am now in another foster home where I am using my leg and continuing to physically improve every day.  I am trying to keep my “live in the moment” attitude but I am ready for life to quit throwing roadblocks at me. I really appreciate everything that AZGRC has done for me.

Please take a moment to support AZGRC’s efforts to help Golden Retrievers like me by donating to AZGRC’s Bowl-A-Rama fundraiser.

Love

Rocky
