All About Polly

Hi, my name is Polly.  At first I was called, Poison Polly.  I will explain that later.  Then I was called Polly Angel.  Again, I will explain.  Now I think Polly Wog is how I am referenced.  Yes, explanation for that name also.  But most times I prefer to go by just Polly.

So here is my story.  The first part is a little fuzzy for me.  Somehow I ate some Oleander which I NOW know is highly poisonous and can be fatal. The poisonous component basically destroys your heart.  At the time it did not seem like such a big deal.  Hey, I am young.  I was bored. I needed something to chew.  Go figure, I would pick one of the most lethal plants to chew on.  Hence the name: Poison Polly.

Arizona Golden Retriever Connection was contacted by the county shelter where my owner had dumped me to be euthanatized. Volunteers from AZGRC rushed me to the Emergency Animal Clinic where I was given a grim prognosis.  My picture and what was happening was posted on Facebook.  I do not know what Facebook is but people everywhere were pulling for me.  I could feel all the positive energy and I was determined to beat the odds.  Every day at the hospital, I continued to improve.  I finally was stable enough to be discharged to a foster home.

You guessed it, now I was being called Polly Angel.  I was a little shy and a lot scared, but when I got to my foster home, there was the 5 coolest Golden Retrievers ever . Each one welcomed me and gave me a gentle greeting telling me that everything would be OK. After taking a day, OK more like 12 hours to settle in, the one boy Golden Retriever introduced me to the swimming pool.

Have you ever been in a swimming pool?  Well let me tell you it is unbelievable.  I did not want to get out.  Yup, the name changes again. This time to: Polly Wog. Get it, polliwog (baby frog in the water).  I guess that is better than Gold Fish which I did not find the humor with. Yeah right: part Golden Retriever, part fish.  That is not even believable.  Anyway, I will be hanging at my foster home until my next cardiology check-up and then I will be ready to find my new forever home which definitely needs one of them swimming pools.

Please be an angel and help other Golden Retrievers that need to be rescued by donating to AZGRC’s Bowl-A-Rama fundraiser.

Much love, like an incredible amount of love,

Just Polly
