Hi my name is Parker and I am
so lucky to be picked as one
of Arizona Golden Retriever
Connection’s 2010 Bowl-A-Rama
spokesdogs. I would like to
tell you a little something about
myself and how AZGRC saved me
from certain death. I do not recall
how I ended up in the animal shelter
but for me it was a lucky
break, except for the part about
potentially dying.
AZGRC has dedicated volunteers
that walk the shelter looking for
Golden Retrievers and there I was. I
was only 3 years old but to see me
in the beginning, I was not what you
would have referred to as beautiful,
bouncy 3 year old Golden Retriever.
I was missing most of my fur and
scabs were all over my body. The vet
thought I might have had an allergic
reaction to multiple tick bites. My
ears were so infected that when the
vet tech cleaned them, they were
bleeding.
The bigger problem, as if those
problems were not enough, was the
difficulty I had standing. I did not
want to complain but the truth be
known… My hips Hurt! My left hip was
not even in the socket.
Lucky for me, AZGRC could
see through all of these problems
and envision a beautiful, bouncy 3
year old Golden Retriever. I went to
a foster home where I started to
build up strength so I could have
surgery on my hip. I had the surgery
and I am now in rehab to regain
muscle strength. If I keep improving
I might not need the other hip done.
Paws crossed on that one!
Although I think of myself as the
luckiest dog alive, I know it is
not just luck that saved me.
Through the generous support of all
of you that are reading my story,
AZGRC was able to provide me
with the care that I needed.
While I do not totally have the
bouncy part down yet, I definitely
have the beautiful Golden Retriever
part going on. I think I should have
been named, Lucky Parker
because that is exactly what I am.
Please help change the luck of
other Golden Retrievers like me by
donating to
AZGRC’s Bowl-A-Rama
fundraiser.
Wishing you much luck.
Love,
Parker
